SPORTS & PERFORMANCE NUTRITION

Fuel your training, recover well and feel prepared

Sports nutrition is not only for elite athletes. Eating enough, choosing the right foods and getting the timing right can help you maintain your energy, recover between sessions and feel better prepared for demanding training or events.

I provide practical, evidence-based advice for runners, Hyrox and CrossFit competitors, gym-goers, endurance athletes and anyone who wants their nutrition to work better alongside their training.

How sports nutrition can help

Good sports nutrition is about matching what you eat to the work you are asking your body to do. The priorities will depend on your sport, training schedule, goals and the difficulties you are currently experiencing.

Training

Fuel sessions properly, maintain your energy and get more from your training.

Recovery

Plan your meals, protein, carbohydrate, fluids and recovery between sessions.

Competition

Develop and practise a clear fuelling plan for races, endurance events or competitions.

What we can work on together

The advice you receive will reflect your sport, training schedule, current eating habits and goals. We will focus on the areas most likely to make a useful difference, without adding unnecessary rules.

You will leave with clear priorities that make sense during a normal training week.

  • Energy needs for your current level of training
  • Carbohydrate before, during and after exercise
  • Protein requirements and recovery
  • Meals and snacks that fit around training
  • Hydration and electrolyte needs
  • Race-day or competition preparation
  • Body-composition goals without unnecessary under-fuelling
  • Digestive problems around exercise
  • Training through perimenopause or menopause
  • Supplements and whether they are useful

This includes the same in-depth initial consultation, followed by a second appointment after you have had time to use your recommendations in training.

What is included

  • Energy, carbohydrate and protein guidance
  • Pre-training, during-training and recovery nutrition
  • Hydration and competition planning where relevant
  • Written recommendations and clear action points
  • A follow-up to review progress and make adjustments

Best if you

Have a longer-term goal, are preparing for a demanding event or would value a second appointment to review what is working and adjust your plan.

Match your nutrition to your training

Your nutrition does not have to be exactly the same every day. A long or demanding session will usually need a different approach from a rest day or an easier session.

We can identify which sessions need more fuel, when to eat beforehand, whether you need carbohydrate during exercise and how to recover when you are training again soon.

Prepare for race or competition day

Competition nutrition should be practised rather than left until the day of the event. We can plan what to eat beforehand, carbohydrate and fluids during the event, and recovery afterwards.

Practising during training gives you time to find foods and drinks that are practical, well tolerated and suitable for the demands of your event.

How it works

1. Review

We discuss your training, goals, eating habits, lifestyle and the difficulties you are currently experiencing.

2. Prioritise

We identify the areas most likely to make a useful difference, rather than changing things unnecessarily.

3. Put it into practice

You receive clear written recommendations that fit your schedule, food preferences and level of training.

4. Review and adjust

With the two-consultation package, we meet again to review progress and make useful adjustments.

Who this is for

You do not need to be an elite athlete. A consultation can be useful at any level if you train regularly and want clearer nutrition advice.

  • Half-marathon, marathon and trail runners
  • Ironman, triathlon and endurance athletes
  • Hyrox and CrossFit competitors
  • Boxers and people involved in weight-category sports
  • Cyclists, swimmers and team-sport participants
  • Gym-goers wanting to improve performance or recovery
  • Women training through perimenopause or menopause
  • Anyone struggling with energy, fuelling or recovery

Frequently asked questions

A few common questions about sports nutrition consultations and the two levels of support.

Do I need to be an athlete?

No. Sports nutrition can help anyone who exercises regularly and wants to improve their energy, recovery, strength or preparation for an event.

What is the difference between the two options?

Both include the same 90-minute assessment and written recommendations. The £240 package adds a second consultation to review progress and make adjustments.

Can you help me lose body fat while I am training?

Yes. We can consider an appropriate energy deficit while still paying attention to training quality, recovery, protein intake and your overall health.

How far before an event should I book?

Several weeks is useful because it allows time to practise your fuelling and hydration plan, although you can still book if your event is closer.

Can you review my supplements?

Yes. We can discuss whether the supplements you use are appropriate, safe and supported by evidence. Food will normally be the starting point. If you compete in a tested sport, you should also read UK Anti-Doping’s guidance on managing supplement risks, as supplements can contain undeclared or prohibited substances.

Are appointments available online?

Yes. Online appointments are available across the UK, and face-to-face appointments are available in Swansea.
